The Chicago City Council recently passed the Illinois Paid Leave Act, which allows workers to earn up to 40 hours of paid leave in a 12-month period. Brad Tietz, the Chamber’s Vice President of Government Relations and Strategy, joined WLS’ Steve Cochran Show on January 2, 2024, to discuss how small businesses are adapting to the new act, who is eligible for paid leave, and what this act means for the city’s workforce.

“A lot of restaurants and retailers, mom and pop types, are struggling to figure this out… We’ve really heard an uproar from small businesses about this,” Tietz said.
