The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce is fiercely opposing a multi-decade strategy that threatens to nullify the advantages of Midwest commercial interests, as hostile interests have successfully aimed to cripple our region’s air travel accessibility to Washington, D.C. airports. “Two troubling signs indicate these efforts are successful: the migration of corporations from less-populous areas of Illinois to larger cities, and the migration of major conferences and meetings to destinations west of the Rockies.”

The law, called Illinois Secure Choice Savings Program Act, applies to Illinois employers who have more than five employees and do not currently offer a retirement plan. It requires employers to either create a plan or enroll in the state-run plan. Organizations that do not comply will be fined by the state. Mesirow and the Chicagoland Chamber have come together to answer questions and offer an alternative to the state plan.
