Chicago, IL – The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce announced today that Robin L. Brown, vice president of government affairs and external relations for Ingredion Incorporated, will serve as the new chairman of its Public Policy Committee. Matthew Summy, vice president of external and government affairs for Comcast Greater Chicago Region, will serve as the new vice chairman.

Brown has been employed with Ingredion, a leading global provider of ingredient solutions, for 30 years, having held positions of increasing management responsibility for the sales, technical sales service and marketing communications functions within the food sales organization. She has served in her current role since October 2009.

“As chairman of the Public Policy Committee, I’m excited to build on my years of experience working in government affairs within Chicago’s business community to continue to foster a competitive economic climate in the region,” said Brown. “The action taken at the State, County and City levels of government affects every business and individual in Chicagoland. It’s our job to advocate on behalf of our members and the broader business community every day.”

New Vice Chairman Matthew Summy leads Comcast’s community investment, civic engagement and government affairs portfolio for the company in Illinois, Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan. From 2008 to 2012, Summy served as the founding President and CEO of the Illinois Science & Technology Coalition (ISTC), where he developed public-private partnerships to advance the Midwest’s profile and standing as a global center for innovation.

“I’m thrilled about the opportunity to work with the Chamber and collaborate with Robin and our member companies to help position the Chicago area  as a national business leader and economic driver,” said Summy. “Our goal is to work with elected and other officials on both sides of the aisle to develop and promote policies that will serve our communities and help our member businesses grow and thrive.”

The Public Policy Committee reviews the Chamber’s position on proposed legislation and public policy that affects Chicagoland businesses.
