Alexandra Hendrickson speaks to a full house.

International experts spoke to a full house at the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, October 22 as professionals eager to learn about talent growth and retention in Asia packed the room.

Alexandra Hendrickson, Partner at Odgers Berndtson Executive Search of Shanghai, and Anita Y. Tang, Managing Director of Royal Roots Global, delivered presentations based on their experiences doing business in China, Japan and other Asian countries.

The speakers highlighted different areas of opportunity in each Asian country or region. Japan, the world’s third largest global economy, has become a research and development hub. Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines have large populations, growing GDPs and competitive markets, though they are facing a talent gap. India recently elected a pro-business Prime Minister and is optimistic about opportunities in infrastructure and manufacturing as well as its young, mobile workforce.

The presentations were followed by a cocktail reception and networking.
