The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce mourns the passing of Jim O’Connor, a distinguished leader and esteemed former Board Chair of the Chicagoland Chamber, and we extend our deepest condolences to the O’Connor family during this difficult time.

Jim’s contributions to both the business and civic realms have left an indelible mark on the City of Chicago. As the third recipient of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Burnham Award for Distinguished Leadership in 1994, Jim exemplified the qualities of vision and determination that inspire others to excel. His visionary concept of the Burnham Award and his initiation of the dinner in 1992 have since become cherished traditions.

We join together in celebrating Jim’s life and honoring the lasting impact he had as a true champion of our city. As we remember his accomplishments and the numerous lives he touched, our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Jim O’Connor’s leadership and love for Chicago will be greatly missed, and his memory will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
