A public hearing was held today in the Chicago City Council Finance Committee about a pharmacy work rules ordinance. The Chamber is opposed to the ordinance because it would severely and negatively impact and inconvenience patients who need access to prescription medication.

“Currently, all pharmacies operate in compliance with state and federal labor laws,” Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Director of Government Relations, Elise Houren, said. “The proposal will further complicate already significant regulation. The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce is confident that the necessary safeguards are already in place to enable those in need of medication to best receive care in a timely and safe fashion that best aligns with the needs of the often unique and dynamic patient populations.” Houren’s testimony was submitted for the record.
