Chamber President & CEO Jack Lavin appeared in several media outlets recently to discuss the Chicago Bears’ recently announced plans to spend over $2 billion in private dollars toward a new domed stadium on the lakefront.

“A new stadium will make us… a sports and entertainment capital of the United States,” Lavin told WLS-TV. “When an iconic team like the Chicago Bears invests $2 billion in publicly owned stadium, that send a message of other businesses: It it’s good to invest in Chicago. All this brings more people, more tourists to Chicago, which creates economic opportunity.”

Lavin also spoke with the Chicago Tribune, calling the proposal “impressive and exciting.”

He continued, “This investment will enhance our reputation as a world-class city and tourist and convention destination, and it will encourage more investment.”

Lavin also spoke with Crain’s Chicago Business, saying the stadium would “amplify our reputation as a world-class city and premier tourist destination. It sends a loud and clear message about investing in Chicago and all the great things we have to offer.”
