Chamber President & CEO Theresa E. Mintle presents a copy of Daniel Burham's “Plan of Chicago” to Mr. Jimmy Deenihan, Ireland Minister for the Diaspora

As they say, “everyone is Irish” on St. Patrick’s Day, so it’s only fitting that a delegation from Ireland made the day as authentic as possible by spending the morning at the Chicagoland Chamber.

The St. Patrick’s Day “Connect Ireland” Breakfast allowed business and government leaders from both countries to connect and discuss economic opportunities and prospects for collaboration between Ireland and Chicago. Mr. Jimmy Deenihan, Ireland Minister for the Diaspora, and Michael McLoughlin, CEO of Connect Ireland, highlighted the event.

One of the main focuses of the discussion was the recently launched “Global Irish: Ireland’s Diaspora Policy”, which aims to recognize the important relationship between Ireland and its diaspora and set out actions to nurture, develop and engage this relationship around the world.

Rob Metz, Senior Vice President of Global Business Operations at Horizon Pharma USA and member of the Chicagoland Chamber, shared his company’s success story in Ireland – and how his business relationship with Ireland began as a connection he made at this same event last year.

The Chamber continues to foster relationships between Chicago and countries across the globe. Its next international event – Business Opportunities with Dubai – will take place March 30 at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago. Click here for more information.
