The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce released the following statement regarding Chicago being selected to host the 2027 MLB All-Star Game.

“The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce congratulates the Chicago Cubs, along with our City and State leaders, on their successful bid to host the 2027 MLB All-Star Game. The Cubs have invested heavily in modernizing Wrigley Field and the surrounding neighborhood in the past decade, and that investment has paid off. We are thrilled to welcome sports fans from around the world and showcase our city’s proud and storied baseball history,” said Jack Lavin, President and CEO of Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. “Securing large-scale events like the All-Star Game are critical to growing our tourism and hospitality industry and driving our regional economy by creating jobs, strengthening our communities, and generating tax revenue needed to fund City services. Chicago’s business community stands ready to fly the W and deliver the best of what our city has to offer—from our iconic cultural attractions, award-winning local restaurants, vibrant neighborhoods, and more—and set the new standard of success for the MLB All-Star Week.”

Chicago’s selection to host the 2027 MLB All-Star Game marks the fourth time Wrigley Field will welcome the Midsummer Classic, having previously hosted in 1947, 1962, and 1990. The Cubs’ recent investment in the ballpark and surrounding neighborhood, including the $1 billion renovation of Wrigley Field and development of Gallagher Way, played a central role in bringing the event back. These efforts have modernized the experience while preserving the charm that makes Wrigley one of baseball’s most iconic venues.

Large-scale events like the All-Star Game generate significant economic impact through increased tourism, hotel stays, restaurant traffic, and retail sales. When Chicago last hosted in 1990, the event helped drive midsummer visitation and national attention. The 2027 version is expected to do even more. With weeklong programming, fan events, and national media coverage, the All-Star Game offers an opportunity to showcase the city’s hospitality, legacy, and future as a world-class sports and tourism destination.
