Chicago, IL – The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and Mesirow Financial are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2015 James Tyree Emerging Business Leadership Award.

“The 2015 James Tyree Emerging Business Leadership Award will be presented to a high-growth small business that best represents the spirit and values of the late Chicagoland Chairman and business leader James Tyree,” said Theresa E. Mintle, President & CEO of the Chicagoland Chamber. “Jim was an advocate for the community, dedicating his time and talents to numerous organizations and causes in support of healthcare, education and children. We are proud to partner with Mesirow Financial to honor his legacy with this award.”

Qualified applicants must meet the following criteria: operate within the six-county Chicagoland metropolitan area; be in business for a minimum of two years; generate revenues of at least $500,000 but less than $10 million; demonstrate substantial growth over the past two years; have five or more employees; and be active in local civic or philanthropic initiatives.

The open application period extends throughout the month of March. Voting will be open to the public at a kickoff reception on Wednesday, April 22 at Mesirow Financial. A private panel of judges will convene in May to evaluate the finalists. The winner will be announced at the Chicagoland Chamber’s Annual Meeting in June. The winner of the 2015 Tyree Award will receive $25,000, compliments of Mesirow Financial, and business services from the Chicagoland Chamber.

“Jim Tyree spent his entire career with Mesirow Financial, working his way up from a Research Associate to become Chairman and CEO,” said Richard Price, Mesirow Financial Chairman and CEO. “He grew the firm to exceptional levels and wove philanthropy into the fabric of our firm. It's an honor to celebrate Jim by recognizing and supporting philanthropic, high-growth small businesses.”
