Presented by ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

As September ushers in a new season, it also marks a significant time for raising awareness about a cause close to many hearts—Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. This month, we turn our focus to the brave children battling cancer and the incredible work being done by organizations like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The Impact of Childhood Cancer

Childhood cancer remains a critical issue, with approximately 400,000 children and adolescents diagnosed worldwide each year. In the United States alone, more than 290 children are diagnosed with cancer every week. Despite these daunting statistics, there is hope. Thanks to advancements in research and treatment developed at St. Jude, the overall survival rate for childhood cancer has increased from 20% to over 80% since its doors opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude freely shares our discoveries with scientists and hospitals worldwide, impacting kids right here in our community.
