The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce salutes members Clayco and F.H. Paschen for being named to Chicago’s largest construction companies by Crain’s Chicago Business.

The Crain’s piece ranks 25 firms by 2023 revenue — on average, these companies saw a 22.4% increase in revenue from 2022 to 2023.

Founded in 1984, Clayco is a full-service real-estate, architecture, engineering, design-build and construction firm. Their motto “Develop. Design. Build.” rings true as the company grew to 3,500 employees and $5.8 billion in revenue in 2023. Most recently, Clayco has been working on a project titled “The Cubes at ORD,” a 66,552-square-foot warehouse with direct access to both Interstate 294 and O’Hare International Airport.

Bob Clark, founder and Executive Chairman at Clayco, was celebrated at the Chamber’s 32nd annual Burnham Dinner in 2023, and noted the significance of the company’s place in Chicago on his widely read blog: “I made Chicago my home back in 2010 and moved Clayco’s Headquarters to this great city because of its amazing business community, which the Chicago Chamber of Commerce helps support.”

F.H. Paschen, established in 1975, has conducted business with an entrepreneurial spirit instilled by their founder, Frank H. “Bud” Paschen for nearly 50 years. The company can trace its roots back to 1871, the year of the Great Chicago Fire, when Frank’s great grandfather began a small tuckpointing business that would eventually evolve into the industry-leading company Paschen is today. The company has recently worked on a variety of large projects for the Chicago Transit Authority, including the construction of the Union Station Transit Center and 95th Street CTA Terminal Improvement Project.

This recognition from Crain’s underscores the vital role both Clayco and F. H. Paschen play in our city’s vibrant business ecosystem. Their success not only contributes to Chicago’s economic growth, but also reinforces our city’s reputation as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce commends both Clayco and F. H. Paschen for their outstanding performance and their commitment to excellence. The Chamber is proud to have them as part of Chicago’s business community and looks forward to watching their continued success in the years to come.
