Over 225 Illinois small and medium-sized businesses sent a letter to Illinois lawmakers urging them to reject House Bill 4894 and Senate Bill 3353, which would place a tax on digital advertising.
The letter states: “In today’s challenging economy, every dollar counts. Rising costs, tariffs, and supply chain issues are already straining our operations. HB 4894 and SB 3353 would only make things worse, forcing us to either scale back advertising or raise prices on customers — both of which would hurt our businesses.”
The letter comes on the heels of new research showing the importance of digital ads to Illinois small businesses. According to recent research, 73% of Illinois small businesses use digital ads. Eighty-three percent of these businesses say these ads are important to their company’s success, and 82% say they help them compete with larger companies.
