Taste of Chatham
Join the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Greater Chatham Initiative, for Taste of Greater Chatham—a curated, half-day experience highlighting the rich culinary legacy, cultural history, and small business vitality of Chicago’s South Side. This immersive tour brings together business and civic leaders to explore Greater Chatham through food, storytelling, and place. Guests will enjoy a morning program featuring a thoughtful panel conversation on neighborhood investment and community-driven growth, followed by a guided culinary tour of iconic, award-winning Black-owned businesses—traveling together by air-conditioned charter bus.
What to Expect
• Morning Program & Panel Discussion Kick off the day at the Discover Center with a light breakfast and a moderated panel discussion led by the Greater Chatham Initiative, featuring accomplished leaders in journalism, finance, and community development.
• Curated Culinary Tour Visit some of Chicago’s most celebrated culinary institutions, including:
◦ Justice of the Pies – James Beard Award Semifinalist o Herbachi
◦ Lem’s Bar-B-Q – 2025 James Beard America’s Classic Award Winner
◦ Brown Sugar Bakery – James Beard Award Semifinalist Guests will hear directly from owners about their businesses, legacy, and impact—along with tastings at each stop.
• Mahalia’s Mile Scenic Drive: Enjoy a narrated drive along the State-designated Mahalia’s Mile Cultural District, highlighting public art, history, and ongoing community investment.
