SNAP at Risk: A Conversation on the Future of Chicago’s Food Security

Hosted by the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce

Join Jack Lavin and special guest Kate Maehr, Executive Director and CEO of the Greater Chicago Food Depository, for a conversation on the future of food security in Chicago. They will discuss the current state of food insecurity and the growing challenges as federal safety net programs face cuts. The greatest impact is expected on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which contributes $4.7 billion annually to the Illinois economy and supports more than 18,000 jobs across the state. With federal rule changes putting SNAP’s future in question, this discussion will explore its significance for the business community and the broader impact on neighbors who rely on these essential programs.
