When you discuss Chicago’s most successful business leaders of the past decade, it would be tough not to mention Rocky Wirtz. The owner of the Chicagoland Blackhawks and President of Wirtz Corporation has three Stanley Cup championships under his belt, and Wirtz Beverage Group just announced a merger with New York-based Charmer Sunbelt Group.

Wirtz joined the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors at its quarterly meeting at Grant Thornton on Wednesday, October 28 for a live Q&A session with Chamber President & CEO Theresa E. Mintle. He discussed how he turned around a Blackhawks franchise that had been overshadowed by the other local professional sports teams for years, reinventing the organization and using innovating communication tactics to connect with the fan base.

Earlier in the meeting, Illinois State Representative John Bradley presented a House resolution to Carol Roper, wife of former Chamber President & CEO Jerry Roper, honoring Jerry for his dedicated service to Chicagoland’s business community up until his passing in June.
