What is the key to small and medium-sized business growth in 2014? What are some of the most in-demand workers in the region? What type of education has become increasingly important to today’s young workforce?

In a conversation with Chamber Board member Microsoft, Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Theresa E. Mintle makes a case that the answer to all of these questions is “technology”. Not only is technology a key to growth for small to medium-sized businesses in the region, technology education is an important part of developing an increasingly tech-savvy workforce.

To achieve this, The Chamber is working with the College to Careers (C2C) program to better align the curricula of City Colleges with the demand in growing fields such as technology. It is also working on programs dedicated to educating small and medium businesses (SMBs) on how technology can contribute to their growth.

Technology training and education can help companies develop new capabilities, create jobs and sustain growth. By helping to provide resources and education, the Chamber hopes to give these companies the tools they need to help themselves grow now and in the future.
