Chicago’s New Paid Leave Policy Set to Be Delayed

Just a month after it was approved, Chicago’s new paid leave policy is set to be amended by the City Council, including delaying implementation of the measure by six months. Despite further concessions, the broader business community that negotiated the ordinance for months remains opposed to the policy. The six-month delay will help ensure businesses have a longer lead-time to understand and comply with the new provisions in the ordinance before potentially running afoul of the rules.
