The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement regarding City Council approval of Tourism Improvement District:
“Tourism is a critical driver of economic activity in Chicago, and maintaining our competitiveness as a world-class destination is essential. A Tourism Improvement District represents a stable, industry-led solution to strengthen our visitor economy, building on Chicago’s recent tourism momentum and positioning the city to attract more visitors, as well as conventions and events. We know this drives economic activity in the city and supports local businesses and jobs across every neighborhood. We applaud the City Council for passing this important proposal and advancing a sustainable path to enhancing tourism funding and long-term economic growth for our city,” said Jack Lavin, President and CEO of Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.
