Following City Council’s vote restoring leadership to the zoning committee, the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce released the following statement on Ald. Gil Villegas’ appointment and the importance of a stable, predictable development process for Chicago’s economy:
“Ald. Villegas has been an ally to the business community and we congratulate him on his appointment as zoning committee chair. Yesterday’s vote was an important step in restoring stability and predictability across Chicago’s development process. A functioning zoning committee is essential to keeping projects moving, creating jobs, and supporting economic growth across every neighborhood. We look forward to working with Ald. Villegas in his new role to ensure a transparent, efficient, and predicable zoning process that will help attract jobs and investment to Chicago and send the message that Chicago is open for business,” said Jack Lavin, President and CEO of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.
