Bruce Lubin of CIBC Begins Two-Year Term

Today, July 1, 2018, a new Chairman has assumed leadership of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. Bruce Lubin has served on the Chicagoland Chamber’s Executive Committee and will now step up to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Lubin works at CIBC, where he is Executive Managing Director and President of Illinois Commercial and Specialty Banking. He succeeds Stephen Ferrara, Partner and Chief Operating Officer of BDO, whose two-year term just ended.

“It is a true honor to be stepping into the role of Chairman of this iconic institution,” Lubin said. “For more than 30 years, I‘ve helped build and grow banks, and helped those banks build and grow our region’s businesses and communities. Now, in addition to that work, I’m very excited to support Chicago’s businesses and communities in a different way – an even bigger way.”

Lubin steps into the Chairman role as the Chicagoland Chamber is developing key new initiatives to support our region’s economy. These include programs for talent acquisition, talent retention and workforce development; directing new business opportunities to local companies; ensuring Chicago has a favorable climate for job creation; and promoting new infrastructure investment and economic development. Increasing diversity and inclusion within the Chamber, and helping to grow Chicago’s middle market companies are also priorities for Lubin.

Chamber President and CEO Jack Lavin said: “The Chicagoland Chamber is thrilled and very fortunate to be gaining Bruce as its leader. He is deeply involved in our business community’s partnerships with civic organizations, non-profits, government, and all sectors of industry. He knows how we can all work together to make Chicago the greatest city to live and work.”

Bruce Lubin’s firm, CIBC, is the Presenting Sponsor of the Chicagoland Chamber’s annual Daniel Burnham Award Dinner, and a sponsor of the Chamber’s James Tyree Emerging Business Leadership Award.
