From the President’s Desk: Reflecting on Success with a Focus to the Future

What a year we’ve had as a Chamber!

Yesterday, we celebrated Chicagoland’s top business organization during our 112th Annual Meeting at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. THANK YOU to all of the members, sponsors, partners and supporters who came out for the sold-out event; it truly was a spectacular morning.

I’ll share the highlights with you:

  • A Keynote presentation from Margo Georgiadis, President of the Americas for Google, who shed light on how her company constantly challenges itself to innovate and create a seamless experience for its customers (and how other businesses can do the same).
  • The announcement of Sophie Evanoff, President and CEO of Vanille Patisserie, as the winner of the 5th Annual Tyree Award. Vanille is a true Chicago business story, with a passionate leader who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to her community and the city of Chicago.
  • The passing of the gavel from outgoing Chamber Chairman Paul La Schiazza, President of AT&T Illinois, to Stephen Ferrara, COO of BDO USA, LLP.
  • Remarks from Mayor Rahm Emanuel about how collaboration between the Chamber and City can bring economic opportunity to all of the city’s diverse neighborhoods.
  • The presentation of the third annual Gerald J. Roper Award for Excellence to Bob Wislow, Chairman of CBRE Chicago and Chamber Board Director.
  • More than 750 attendees and 30 sponsors, who helped generate more than 180 social media interactions surrounding the event.

We look forward to continuing to expand the scope and reach of the Chamber, driving growth and impacting success for our members. Thanks again to everyone who came out to celebrate with us as we begin our next chapter of innovation and growth.
