Neurodiversity in the Workplace: Attracting & Supporting Workers with Neurological Differences

04/27/2017 8:00 AM
8:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Schaumburg Corporate Center, 1501 Woodfield Road Conference Room AB, Schaumburg, IL, 60173
The benefits of diversity in the workplace are widely accepted and disability inclusion is steadily gaining ground as a key element of workforce diversity. Despite this push for inclusion, individuals with neurological disabilities, especially those that are non-apparent, are often overlooked in corporate D&I strategies.

Join the Chicagoland Business Leadership Network (CBLN) in partnership with Argosy University and the Schaumburg Business Association (SBA) for breakfast and a discussion on Neurodiversity in the Workplace. During this session, human resource professionals will gain an understanding of the types of conditions that can constitute neurological disabilities and the opportunities that people with these brain differences may present to businesses.

Learn more about what it means to recruit, hire and retain qualified candidates with neurological disabilities. Acquire strategies to successfully interview neurodiverse candidates and receive guidance on how to prepare your workforce to incorporate neurodiversity into your existing corporate culture.

A neurological disability can be the result of a condition that has been evident since early childhood (e.g., autism) or can be the result of injury or illness. These neurological differences impact the way individuals process information and interact with co-workers, customers and others.

Speakers include:
Dr. Julie Robinson, Department Chair and Director of Clinical Training for the Counselor Education Program at Argosy University, Schaumburg
Dr. Cameron Brewer, Program Dean of the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at The Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Schaumburg
