As an organization that stresses the importance of the Gen Y workforce to the future of the region, the Chicagoland Chamber is proud to congratulate its members that are included on the list for investing in the business leaders of the future: Enova, The SAVO Group, Weber Shandwick, Deloitte, True Partners Consulting LLC, Ifbyphone, Sikich LLP, Orbit Media Studios, and Hyatt. “The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce congratulates all of our member companies recently named amongst the Top 50 Employers for Gen Y Emerging Talent in Chicago,” stated Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jerry Roper. “Like most communities, we recognize the importance of attracting and retaining the next generation of workforce talent for our region. Companies that provide professional development opportunities, benefits, perks, and an environment and culture attractive to Gen Y workers will help continue to make Chicagoland a top destination for young, educated, and talented workers. We applaud Brill Street + Company for recognizing the top workplaces in Chicago for Generation Y, and we look forward to hearing about many future successes from each of these notable companies.” Gen Y, which was defined as employees between 18 and 29 years old for these awards, is better thought of as a new perspective. The Gen Y perspective is purpose-driven, social and tech-savvy. Most importantly, Gen Y is looking for a job which challenges them to grow and an employer who trusts and respects them. Since 2009, Brill Street has been ranking the top employers for Gen Y emerging talent. “Gen Y is uniquely positioned to step in, step up and offer new capabilities for employers. With the Top 50, we recognize those companies that offer a place for Gen Y to thrive,” says Kevin C. Carlson. With this in mind, the Chicagoland Chamber kicked off its new “Emerging Leaders Group” in January of last year. The group consists of individuals 35 years of age and younger and was created because the Chamber recognizes that our business community must bring together the next generation of executives so they have a means to gather, network and obtain mentoring from some of Chicago’s current business leaders.
