Creating a Formula for Small Business Growth in Chicagoland
As the voice of business, the Chamber works diligently to keep an open dialogue with our local government officials about the issues facing small businesses. On October 25, the Chamber hosted a Roundtable with key members of Mayor Emmanuel’s staff to brainstorm and discuss ideas about what more the City of Chicago can be doing to help grow our small businesses.
Five local business owners, the Mayor’s Innovation Team and representatives from the Chicagoland Chamber Small Business Development Center (SBDC) discussed key issues to growth, access to capital, operations, permits and more. Efficiency and transparency were the major areas of discussion, including ways to streamline processes that will make running a business easier.
The participating business owners were asked to answer three questions before attending the meeting: What resources do you need to help you grow, what are the challenges that you encounter as a small business operating in the city, and what are your business plans for the next 6-12 months?
The Chicagoland Chamber SBDC will follow up with findings from the meeting and prompt the City of Chicago Innovation Team to take action on key issues delivered by the business community.
