Jim Stanley Named Indiana Chair of Tri State Alliance for Regional Development
Chicago, IL - The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce announced today that Jim L. Stanley, CEO for Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), has been named Indiana Chair of the new Tri State Alliance for Regional Development. Stanley is the second of three Chairmen to be confirmed, after Michael M. Mullen of Centerpoint Properties was named as Illinois Chairman last month. Announcement of a Chair for Wisconsin is pending.
The Tri State Alliance for Regional Development was created to implement the recommendations provided by The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The OECD brings around its table 40 countries that account for 80 percent of world trade and investment, giving it a pivotal role in addressing the challenges facing the world economy.
“The OECD has completed over a dozen Territorial Reviews, and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, with its partners, is pleased that the Chicago Metropolitan OECD Review including 21 counties in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin is the first of its kind in the U.S.,” stated Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Senior Vice President for Economic Development Kelly O’Brien. “Insights gained from the OECD Review will serve as a road map in developing our Tri State agenda, maximizing assets and overcoming obstacles as a region.”
“Indiana’s participation in this promising initiative has the potential for long term economic benefits for northwest Indiana, the State of Indiana, and the tri-state region as a whole,” added Jim Stanley. “I am excited to take on the challenge of identifying common goals that could create significant impact at a regional or even national level.”
“I am thrilled that Jim Stanley has accepted the Indiana Chairmanship,” said Tri State Alliance for Regional Development Illinois Chair Michael Mullen, “Given our business experience, we understand how critical it is to have a strong regional economy. I look forward to working together, implementing the OECD recommendations and positioning this region to be more competitive.”
Mark Maassel, President and CEO of the Northwest Indiana Forum and a strategic partner for the Tri State Alliance for Regional Development was instrumental in securing Stanley “This is an important effort for northwest Indiana and Jim’s leadership will assure that great things are going to happen.”
“The City of Gary is on a path of transformative change. We are committed to regional alliance in this regard and are excited about working with the Tri State Alliance for Regional Development.” said Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson. “NIPSCO has been an innovative and collaborative partner for our municipality, and the addition of Jim Stanley to the Alliance will undoubtedly help to change the landscape of regional economic development in our area.”
