Chicago - The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce fully supports Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s initiative to reform and streamline the City’s inspections process starting with Chicago’s restaurant industry.

“Restaurants are the life blood of the city’s tourism and hospitality industry,” said Jerry Roper, President and CEO of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. “Chicago is home to some of the world’s most renowned chefs. Getting City Hall out of the kitchen quicker to allow Chicago’s chefs to focus on their craft is essential to ensuring that Chicago maintains its standing as a culinary destination.”

The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce is a long-time supporter of streamlining the City’s business licensing, permitting and inspection processes. Today, too many business owners in Chicago spend too much time on the bureaucratic paper work and other unnecessary requirements to start and operate their businesses. The Chamber supports and stands with the Mayor in an effort to make City Hall work smarter and better to service the City’s business community.

“We expect the Mayor’s inspections initiative with restaurant start-ups will serve as a model to conduct efficient and effective inspections of the city’s other businesses and commercial industries, while at the same time ensuring the health and safety of the public,” said Roper. Comprehensive business inspection and permitting reform will go a long way toward making Chicago the most business-friendly city in America.
