Take Action with Your Health in 2012


Every year, a million people die of diseases caused by poor lifestyle choices. Thirty million Americans suffer from chronic disease as a result of smoking, lack of exercise, poor nutrition choices, and substance abuse. Being proactive about your health can help prevent your employees from becoming a statistic.

The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Mid America Club, and the National Preventative Training Institute (NPTI) hosted the kick-off event of their year-long health and wellness calendar with a “Passport to Health, Know your numbers” focus at the Mid America Club. Over 200 people attended Tuesday’s event for Live Healthy Chicagoland’s “Take Action Calendar.” Attendees enjoyed an interactive health experience at the event, where they were able to learn how simple lifestyle changes can significantly improve their health.

The first step to improving your health is to knowing your personal health numbers, including blood pressure, cholesterol, vision and skin test and BMI. Twenty experts were available to help attendees learn their numbers, participate in complimentary testing, and answer any questions they had regarding their personal health numbers.

Participants left with a better understanding of how wellness can help you improve your health and what resources are available to help you become a healthier person. A preventative
