Capital One Moving to Chicago, Bringing 350 Jobs
It has been a few weeks since the last time a big company announced it was moving downtown, but Capital One says it will be doing just that, bring 350 jobs to the city in the process.
From Crain’s Chicago Business:
Capital One Financial Corp., the big credit card issuer, is opening a new office in 65,000 square feet at 77 W. Wacker Drive that, until recently, served as the headquarters for United Airlines.
The facility will become one of Capital One's three national “primary hubs,” according to the company. Workers there will mostly be “professional staff” that run the credit card operation, including the bank's regional chief and staff members in marketing, acquisitions and business development, said spokeswoman Julie Rakes. Some typical roles are marketing and analysis, customer management, and brand marketing, as well as HR and IT.
Mayor Emanuel issued a statement saying the move is “a testament to the vibrancy, talent and quality that our downtown has to offer.”
The Mayor has worked hard to bring company headquarters and new jobs to downtown Chicago since he took office last year. The Chamber continues to look for ways to put Chicagoans to work and supports the Mayor in his ongoing efforts to create job growth and infrastructure development in the city.
