Jobs One!

Objective:
The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce shall pursue an agenda for achieving a sustainable business climate for the Chicagoland region focusing on the primary goal of creating and retaining private sector jobs.
Action Plan:
- Communicate with all Chamber committee chairs about the Jobs agenda and advise that all policy decisions must take into account the impact on private sector job creation and retention.
-
Committees must reach out to other Chamber and non-Chamber members to identify and measure impediments to job creation and retention.
-
Committees should engage business-friendly elected officials and government leaders who agree with our political and legislative agenda to continually garner their support for job creation and retention.
-
Committees should examine and develop job metrics impacting their affected industries. The cumulative metrics data from each committee will be used to create a unique, monthly or quarterly job barometer or chart by which overall job creation and retention can be measured over time. (Sample reference data measurements include: I.D.E.S.; R.E.A.L; etc…)
-
Committees should identify examples of high unemployment, crime, poverty, school drop out rates, and a decline in wealth which results in revenue loss via taxes and purchases.
-
Committees should concentrate on technology issues and how it impacts job creation or job loss.
-
The Chamber will develop a communications plan to support and publicize the jobs agenda and seek out media opportunities to draw attention to our efforts.
-
The Chamber PAC should make candidates’ positions on public policy issues affecting private sector job creation and retention the primary factor on which candidate endorsements are made.
-
The Chamber will identify and highlight members’ job programs and successes.
