Legislative Agenda and Emerging Issues

The 2008 Legislative Agenda

The 2008 Legislative Agenda is the Chamber's proactive agenda for the local, state and federal levels. This is a working document that reflects our highest priorities throughout the year. The Legislative Agenda has been developed by Chamber members through our committees and adopted by the Board of Directors. A note: both the Illinois General Assembly and the United States Congress operate on 2-year terms. Legislation introduced in the first year of the body's term can be acted upon at any time during that term. Ongoing initiatives include:
  • Creating a Competitive and Fair Tax Climate
  • Creating an Education System That Produces a Qualified Workforce
  • Improving our Region's Transportation Infrastructure
  • Balancing Environmental and Economic Interests
  • Maintaining a Competitive Business Climate and Promoting Economic Development in Illinois
  • Improving Technology and Entrepreneurial Infrastructure
