Objective

Medium-sized companies frequently have to address issues as complex as those addressed by Fortune 500 companies, but often without the time, staff and financial resources needed to do the job.

That’s where the Mid-Market Forum comes in: it helps medium-sized Chamber business members (generally companies with revenues between $10 and $500 million) address their specific mid-market challenges by connecting them, as a group, with important business resources, people and information. Examples of some of the challenges that are being addressed include: applying leading-edge information technology; building a brand; and maximizing intellectual property.

Thriving in the New Normal

It was standing room only as the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Mid-Market Forum welcomed recognized expert Ram V. Iyer as the first speaker in 2010 Speaker Series on March 16. More than 75 midmarket CEOs, sales people, vendors and suppliers packed the room as Ram, the founder and CEO of the Midmarket Institute, offered a picture of the challenges the midmarket community faces and ideas for  creating customized success strategies.

“Ram’s talk on the midmarket was a great start for the 2010 speaker series,” said Jason Kamp of Terillium Inc. “Ram is clearly a thought leader and a tremendous asset to the midmarket. His talk provided many useful insights into how midmarket companies can become more successful.”

Attendees listened raptly and took copious notes as an upbeat Ram urged the audience not to waste a good crisis. Instead, midmarket companies will do better to throw off the gloom and doom and figure out how to make the new normal work for them, he advised.
