Objective
The Employment Law Committee addresses the government, fiscal, insurance and employment policies that make the state and region more competitive, and thereby contribute to successful economic development, job creation and growth. This includes developing and reviewing policy initiatives on key legal, legislative and regulatory proposals and standards that affect employers and their relationships with employees. | |
|
|
- Promote wage levels that are set by market forces, and a reasonable minimum wage set by the federal government, that keep the region on par with competing states.
- Negotiate all major Illinois labor-management issues before the General Assembly within the confines of the agreed-bill process.
- Advocate for affordable health insurance for all businesses, and oppose unfunded healthcare mandates that cause escalated costs.
- Promote the Drug-Free Workplace Program as a mechanism to reduce employer costs related to healthcare, workers’ compensation and increase employee productivity.
- Support the efforts of the Illinois Coalition for Jobs, Growth and Prosperity in its efforts to develop, promote and implement a stable pro-job, pro-growth, pro-investment climate in Illinois.
- Support immigration reform that establishes a legal, secure and orderly system of migration to the US under the principle of shared responsibility among employees, employers and government.
- Oppose the federal Employee Free Choice Act which would radically transform the process by which a union organizes employees and eliminate the secret ballot election.
